My name is Michael Jay Sherman.
I graduated from Carnegie Mellon University
in Pittsburgh, PA, double
majoring in physics and
computer science.
I escaped on the 17th of May, 1998 with two Bachelor's degrees in hand, and am
now working at Digital Sandbox, Inc.
in the D.C. area. I'm currently working on 3D graphics sims with OpenGL and
writing physical simulation code. Oh, and I'm a
UNIX/Linux geek. And yes,
I carry my Palm IIIx everywhere.
I was born in Somerville, NJ but grew up in
Herndon, VA, located
a few miles west of Washington, DC
(next to
Dulles International Airport) in
Fairfax County.
I went to high school at
the Thomas Jefferson High School for Science
and Technology in Alexandria,
and graduated in June of 1994.
I am a Christian (member
of Southview Baptist Church),
a conservative, and in the world of politics, a Republican.
I'm a member of the
PCA,
ACM,
APS, and the
NRA.
Some people may label me a cynic, however in fact I'm just a realist.
My wife,
Laura,
is now a graduate of the Architecture department at
Carnegie Mellon. She is from the Lexington, KY area, and loves sports
and bluegrass music. Even though there is the bluegrass thing,
she is still the love of my life ;-). We were recently married on July 1
in Lexington, KY.
For our honeymoon, Laura and I went to Ireland
for 12 days, driving around the southwestern counties.
We're currently living in Fairfax, Virginia with my three cats
Aoife, Roise,
Sherlock.
